Walls! 13-21 01.2020

0

The Walls in our house didn’t have a roof over them for a long time in winter, we were building the top floor and it took a while. The rain came and made everything wet, then it grew mildew..yuck! We cleaned the beams and tops of the walls before we put the roof on but now we are finishing the rooms, putting in the floors and varnishing we need to scrub them properly. It takes time and it’s hard work!

It looks so nice when everything is clean and varnished. It’s hard to see in the pictures but I like it.

Australia burns 05.01.2020

Today was creepy! In the morning things started to change. We’ve had really smoggy weather for weeks, so much so that our solar panels were not powering our system right, I’ve seen it before, when Australia burns, (like Tazi a few years ago) we get smoke, sometimes it even stinks. This was a bit different. The sky started to go orange! It sure made you feel a sense of doom, like something was coming….you just weren’t sure what.

Things that were red sort of “blended in”, green things didn’t look right, the chooks went to bed earlier than normal, people rang…just to see if we had noticed.

Lots of people talked about how bad the fires were in Australia, it was like they had forgotten that there are always fires burning there. When I was at Mt House in NT with mum for three months a bush fire burned the whole time we were there, slowly eating the trees and bits of grass, a few times the workers went out to fight the fire when it got too close to the homestead but nobody got all worked up about it. I think that the bush in Australia burned so bad because it hadn’t had a fire go through in years, mostly because people don’t like the smoke or the smell or that sometimes their homes burn down. I feel sorry for the people who lost their homes. I hope they learned to burn the bush more often so it’s not as bad next time.
