SPOUTING!
0“Soon it’s going to rain” Mum has started saying this lately.
I guess winter will eventually get here and it will rain, but everything is dusty and dry and the trees are dying and the grass is dead, the ponds and lakes are dry, it’s hard to imagine it’s ever going to rain again. But we need to get the spouting up because when (if) it does rain then we need to catch the water because otherwise we won’t be able to move in…water is one of the BIG THREE things on Mum’s list of moving in things.
We got the tank up on to our tank-stand (we had pictures but Mum’s phone died and we lost all) SO the next thing to do was put up the spouting. Mum had a plan, it sounded good! I thought she had put spouting up before, we ran a string line from one end of the eves to opposite the tank and made sure it went on a downward angle all the way (we measured it with “Nevill the level”) then we put up the spouting brackets, I made sure they were straight and Mum screwed them on.
THE BIG TANK MOVE!
0Wow! We moved the big tank!
For weeks now we have been pumping (bit by bit) the water from our bottom tank up to our top tank, it had run dry because of the drought, we haven’t had rain at home since November 2019 and although Mum and I are careful we have to water all our animals as well. Mum bought a pump which can run off our solar power and in the hot, sunny afternoons we pumped water.
Eventually there was only a little bit of water left, we were ready to go!
Uncle John brought a big flat trailer down and some friends and they heaved and swore and sweated, eventually got the tank sort of on the trailer.
They tied it on and off they set…about 100 mtrs up our paddock they had to stop and tie it on again because it kind of fell off a bit. I was worried that might happen on the road but about an hour later we got a picture from uncle John…they had got there in one piece!
